CREATIONISM
Creationism is a rather new science and new concept, that is a widely held position of many Christians and ministers.
But what is Creationism and is it a science, religion or just like evolution a myth.
To find the answer one must look at the literature and writings of the creationist and see where they are coming from.
The main concept of creationism is simply that God created the world, life and the cosmos.
That there is a reason for life and that life does have an author and is not merely a byproduct of chaos.
This part of creationism is the core foundation of their beliefs . But they also go on and state that the earth was created is six literal days by God.
while the first tenet of their beliefs of God creating is based on evidences in the Bible the later is not.
No where in the entire Bible does it say God created the world in six literal 24 hour periods. But the Bible does actually say that the creation took place over a period of ages, or time sections.
The English translation of the word "day" is wrong the actual Hebrew word used here is YOWN, meaning space of time, age, or a section of time.
There is also a text in the New testament in 2 Peter that states that God is timeless and one day can be a thousand years.. So then the concept of a literal day of creation is simply not realistic.
Creationist go on and state that to not believe in a literal 24 hour day is to alter the Bible. But instead it is they who have and are changing and modifying the Bible to fit their theology.
So where does this all leave us with the creationist ideas?
While it is very true God created all things, the idea of that creation over a very short period of a week is simply a position of weak minded faith and ignoring the totality of the scriptures.
The creationist ideas do merit thought and research and are much more credible than evolution.
But one needs to fully understand that we must stick to the actual evidences and not just jump on a ship without at least looking to see where it is going.
This is what has happened with much of modern Christian church movements, they simply pile on a idea without seeking the real truth.
This has happened on a number of issues such as conspiracy concepts, superstitions about rock music, theatrical magic , and more.
The Bible tells us to be of a sober mind ,not one that is whirled about by any good idea or superstitions that comes around.
We must seek the truth through the scriptures and not rewrite them to fit our weak emotional mindset and weak faith. God is far greater than we think or even conceive that He is.
